Alexander Charim studierte Germanistik und Geschichte an der Universität seiner Heimatstadt Wien. Als Regieassistent und Hospitant sammelte er am Burgtheater Wien und der Wiener Staatsoper erste Theatererfahrung, u. a. bei Günter Krämer, David Pountney, Michael Sturminger, Luc Bondy und Peter Zadek. Von 2003 bis 2007 studierte er Schauspielregie an der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst „Ernst Busch“ Berlin.

Alexander Charim studierte Germanistik und Geschichte an der Universität seiner Heimatstadt Wien. Als Regieassistent und Hospitant sammelte er am Burgtheater Wien und der Wiener Staatsoper erste Theatererfahrung, u. a. bei Günter Krämer, David Pountney, Michael Sturminger, Luc Bondy und Peter Zadek. Von 2003 bis 2007 studierte er Schauspielregie an der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst „Ernst Busch“ Berlin.
Seit 2007 arbeitet er als freier Regisseur für Schauspiel und Musiktheater. So inszenierte er neben zahlreichen Schauspiel-Produktionen 2007 beim Weimarer Kunstfest „Omeros/Combattimento“, 2008 im Finale des Ring Award „Rigoletto“ am Schauspielhaus Graz, bei den KunstFestSpielen Herrenhausen „Orfeo – Love will tear us apart“ [2010] und „Geometrie der Liebe“ [2012], „Die Jaffa-Orangen des Richard W. – ein israelisches Rheingold“ [2011], das in Berlin, Chur und Rotterdam gezeigt wurde und DER BARBIER VON SEVILLA an der Staatsoper Hannover.
Gemeinsam mit dem ukrainischen Bildenden Künstler und Bühnenbildner Ivan Bazak begibt er sich auf die theatrale Suche nach dem Hören und nach Lachenmanns Begriff von einer „neuen“ Musik im Rahmen seiner Debüt-Produktion an der Deutschen Oper Berlin: BISMARCKSTRASSE 35.
