Mit 26 internationalen Tourneen in mehr als 30 Ländern trat das Tango Jazz Quartet bereits in den renommiertesten Veranstaltungsorten der Welt auf, wie z.B. dem San José Summer Jazz Festival, San José, Kalifornien, dem Shanghai Jazz Festival, dem Nisville International Jazz Festival, Serbien, dem Tango & Jazz Festival, Tomsk, Russland, dem Hong Kong Jazz Festival, dem Joy of Jazz Festival, Johannesburg, dem Sunset-Sunside, Paris, dem Porgy & Bess, Wien, dem Music Village, Brüssel, dem Snug Harbor, New Orleans, dem BFlat, Berlin, und vielen anderen.
Der Bandleader, Saxophonist und Klarinettist Gustavo Firmenich belebt mit dieser Band die Tanzabende aus der goldenen Ära des Tangos in Buenos Aires wieder, wo Tango und Jazz co-existierten, obwohl sie getrennt voneinander gespielt wurden. Das Tango Jazz Quartet verschmilzt die Gemeinsamkeiten beider Lieder, und fügte dem Jazz etwas hinzu, was dem Tango fehlte: die Improvisation.
Dieses musikalische Konzept wurde vom Publikm auf der ganzen Welt begeistert aufgenommen. “Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich eine Fusion von Jazz und Tango höre, die funktioniert und Sinn ergibt“, sagte der weltberühmte französische Akkordeonist Richard Galliano über das TJQ.

Saxophonist and clarinetist Gustavo Firmenich, leader of TJQ, recreated with this band the dancing evenings that were common in the golden era of the tango in Buenos Aires, where Tango and Jazz lived together although playing separately. Tango Jazz Quartet proposed a fusion of how much both songs had in common and adding something distinctive of the jazz that the tango lacked: Improvisation.
This musical concept has a great reception of the very different publics around the world. “It is the first time that I hear a fusion of Jazz and Tango that works and makes sense”, said the world‐renowned French accordionist Richard Galliano about TJQ.
