Gespräch mit ALOK: DER EINFLUSS DER CORONA-PANDEMIE AUF DIE KUNSTPRODUKTION UND DAS LEBEN VON QUEER- UND TRANS-PERSONENDer/die gender non-conforming US-amerikanische*r Künstler*in Alok Vaid-Menon alias ALOK war zuletzt im Juni 2017 auf Kampnagel, um einen Workshop mit dem Titel THIS WORLD MIGHT BE ENDING, I AM SORRY, I LOVE YOU zu geben und nahm damit die heutige Situation auf eine Art schon voraus. Dramaturgin Uta Lambertz sprach mit ALOK, darüber wie er/sie die Corona-Krise in den USA aus der queeren, nicht-weißen Perspektive eines*r Künstler*in wahrnimmt. Die beiden reden u.a. darüber, warum es auch in der digitalen Welt Safe Spaces braucht, warum Queers, trans-Personen und Migrant*innen vom Virus durchschnittlich härter getroffen werden und wie Rassismus, Klassismus und Transphobie durch die Krise verstärkt wird.

Alok Vaid-Menon aka ALOK (they/them) is an US American gender non-conforming writer, performance and mixed media artist, who uses different artforms to explore fields like gender, race, trauma, belonging and human condition. In 2017 ALOK was invited to Kampnagel with their (from today's perspective somehow prophetic) workshop “This world might be ending - I'm sorry I love you", which was an intense exchange about hope, bonding and belonging. Taking this visionary approach as a starting point for their conversation, Kampnagel dramaturg Uta Lambertz was talking to ALOK about their perspective on the current Coronavirus-Crisis and how it might affect queer, transgender and black people in particular and how it changes their art.
