Warum lassen sich Geschichten noch besser mit zehn Musiker:innen erzählen?

Da jedes Instrument eine eigene Rolle in der Musik von VOLO einnehmen kann – und darf.
In einer Mikrowelt, wo ein Stück aus zehn Blickwinkeln erzählt und nicht vorgelesen wird, und so wieder einen Makroklang ergibt. Zusammen malen sie eine Geschichte, mit allen Farben, die zur Verfügung stehen.
In diesem Large Ensemble treffen die jungen Jazzszenen Köln, Mainz, Basel Stuttgart und Berlin zusammen – angeführt von Sofia Will, Altsaxophonistin und Komponistin.
Sofia Will ist mit VOLO Preisträgerin des vom LOFT und 2ndFLOOR e.V. ausgeschriebenen recording projects 2023, die in der Auszeichnung inbegriffenen Studio-Aufnahmen werden kurz nach dem Konzert im LOFT-Tonstudio stattfinden.

HINWEIS: Im Jahr 2024 starten die Konzerte im LOFT in der Regel gegen 20 Uhr - das LOFT öffnet jeweils um 19.30 Uhr.

Why can stories be told even better with ten musicians?

Because each instrument can – and is allowed to – take on its own role in the music of VOLO.
In a micro-world where a piece is told from ten points of view and not read aloud, resulting in a macro-sound again. Together they paint a story with all the colors available.
This large ensemble brings together the young jazz scenes of Cologne, Mainz, Basel, Stuttgart and Berlin – led by Sofia Will, alto saxophonist and composer.
With VOLO, Sofia Will is the winner of the recording project 2023 organized by the LOFT and the 2ndFLOOR e.V. The studio recordings included in the award will take place in the LOFT recording studio shortly after the concert .


NOTE: In 2024, the concerts at the LOFT will start round 8pm - the LOFT opens approx. 30min before the concerts begin.
Exceptions (until Eastern): Sunday Concerts (start approx at 6pm, if not noted otherwise).
