Der in Köln lebende Bassist und Komponist Reza Askari und seine Mitstreiter Stefan Karl Schmid am Saxophon und Fabian Arends am Schlagzeug lassen keine Gelegenheit verstreichen, die Grenzen des Jazz – spielerisch und voller Neugier auf das Unbekannte – neu auszutesten und für das Ensemble neu zu definieren.

Gegründet im Jahr 2012 hat das Trio sich seither einen namhaften Ruf in der nationalen und internationalen Musikszene erspielt und kontinuierlich am eigenen Bandsound gearbeitet und geforscht.
Nach mehreren Tourneen im In- und Ausland sowie zwei Alben im Trio-Format (Roar 2017 und Magic Realism 2020) führt die Band ihre Forschungsreise und die Weiterentwicklung des Ensemble-Sounds nun im Quartett mit dem Über-Vibraphonisten Christopher Dell fort. Zusammen präsentieren sie neue Kompositionen des Bandleaders Reza Askari, welche im Dezember 2021 aufgenommen wurden und die Ende Juni 2022 auf dem Album Roar feat. Christopher Dell beim Berliner Label QFTF erscheinen werden.

Cologne-based bassist and composer Reza Askari and his colleagues Stefan Karl Schmid on saxophone and Fabian Arends on drums never miss an opportunity to test the boundaries of jazz – playfully and full of curiosity about the unknown – and redefine them for the ensemble.

Founded in 2012, the trio has since earned a notable reputation in the national and international music scene, continuously working and researching their own band sound.
After several tours at home and abroad as well as two albums in trio format (Roar 2017 and Magic Realism 2020), the band now continues its journey of exploration and further development of the ensemble sound in a quartet with uber-vibraphonist Christopher Dell. Together they present new compositions by bandleader Reza Askari, which were recorded in December 2021 and will be released on the album „Roar feat. Christopher Dell at the end of June 2022 on the Berlin label QFTF.
