Bob Ostertags musikalische Praxis seit den 1970er Jahren ist Legende für die frühe Verwendung von Sampling im Bereich Freie Improvisation. Oftmals politisch aufgeladen und aktivistisch orientiert, beschränken sich seine Aktivitäten nicht allein auf Musik, sondern umfassen ebenso Texte, Bücher, Medien-Guerrilla (The Yes Men), Film, journalistische Arbeiten und Lehre. Bob Ostertag war an zahlreichen kollaborativen Musikprojekten beteiligt – u.a. mit Fred Frith, John Zorn, Kronos Quartet, Mike Patton, Phil Minton, Shelley Hirsch, Rrose und Otomo Yoshihide.
Im LOFT wird er ein improvisiertes Solo-Set mit Softwaresynthesizer und Gamepadcontroller präsentieren.

Im Duo !Trumpet + Trumpet! von Nicolas Collins und Birgit Uhler treffen zwei Varianten eines „erweiterten“ Trompetenspiels aufeinander. Während Nicolas Collins seine sensor- und lautsprecherbestückte Trompete als Hybrid einer Hard- und Software-Modifizierung konzipiert hat, erweitert Birgit Uhler ihr Instrument auf rein akustisch-mechanische Weise. Die klanglichen Resultate kommen sich oft erstaunlich nahe und verschmelzen gehackte „Trumpelectronics“ mit dem technisch konventionell belassenen Blasinstrument.

Nicolas Collins ist weltweit bekannt als Autor von „Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking“ und durch seine vielfältigen Workshops, die er im Zusammenhang mit dieser Thematik durchgeführt hat. Aktuell hat er im Verlag Bloomsbury das Buch „Semi-Conducting – Rambles through the Post-Cagean Thicket“ im Februar 2025 veröffentlicht.

In the duo !Trumpet + Trumpet! by Nicolas Collins and Birgit Uhler, two variants of “extended” trumpet playing come together. While Nicolas Collins has designed his sensor- and loudspeaker-equipped trumpet as a hybrid of a hardware and software modification, Birgit Uhler expands her instrument in a purely acoustic-mechanical way. The tonal results often come surprisingly close and merge hacked “Trumpelectronics” with the technically conventional wind instrument.

Nicolas Collins is known worldwide as the author of “Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking” and for the many workshops he has held on this subject. He has recently published the book “Semi-Conducting – Rambles through the Post-Cagean Thicket” with Bloomsbury in February 2025.
