Zusammen mit Thomas Rückert, Reza Askari und Ramesh Shotham hat Peter Dahm 2017 das Quartett „prayāṇa“ gegründet. Mit Christian Ramond am Bass wird nun die 2019 im Sendesaal Bremen aufgenommene CD vorgestellt.

„prayāṇa“ bedeutet Aufbruch, einen Aufbruch in eine neue gemeinsame Klangwelt. Vier sehr unterschiedlichen Stimmen, erzeugen zwischen Jazzvirtuosität und weltmusikalischer Spielweise, einen neuen Sound. Das Material besteht zum einen aus Kompositionen von Peter Dahm und Ramesh Shotham, zum anderen sind es Originalkompositionen aus Indien und der Türkei. Der Bogen reicht dabei vom energetischen „Dancing Ganesha“ bis zum ruhigen „Kälteeinbruch“.

„prayāṇa“ means departure, a departure into a new shared world of sound. Four very different voices, between jazz virtuosity and world music style, create a new sound. The material consists of compositions by Peter Dahm and Ramesh Shotham on the one hand, and original compositions from India and Turkey on the other. The spectrum ranges from the energetic „Dancing Ganesha“ to the calm „Cold Break“.
