Die musikalische Schlittenfahrt führt Sie zunächst zu den sanft-wogenden Klängen von Humperdincks Ouvertüre zu seiner Oper „Hänsel und Gretel“. Weiter geht es mit zwei feierlichen Werken Mozarts, dem Deutschen Tanz Nr. 3, die „Schlittenfahrt“, und der Motette „Exsultate jubilate“ KV 165. Auch an Russland kommen wir mit den zwei dort beheimateten Komponisten Sergei Prokofiev und Dmitri Schostakowitsch vorbei. Den Abschluss des Konzerts bildet Johann Strauss mit seiner Polka „Vergnügungszug“, bei der der Name Programm ist und mit seinem Walzer „Accelerationen“, mit dem er seinem Namen als „Walzerkönig“ alle Ehre macht.
