MILLENNIUM besteht aus den aufregendsten deutschen Posaunisten der neusten Generation. Nicolaj Wolf, Moritz Renner, Philipp Hayduk und Kai Baumgarten verbinden Modern Jazz mit Kammermusik in einer ungewöhnlichen wie spannenden Besetzung. So wurde das Quartett für das recording project 2023 im LOFT ausgwählt.
Mit innovativen Spieltechniken erschaffen sie eine Vielfalt an Klangfarben, die das Publikum in ihren Bann zieht. Von norwegischen Schneelandschaften bis zu kosmischen Weiten, von Blues bis zu Zwölftonmusik – detailliert arrangierte Kompositionen lassen die Inspiration durch György Ligeti, Kenny Wheeler und Nils Wogram erkennen, sodass ein unverwechselbarer Sound entsteht.

"MILLENNIUM räumt mit den Vorurteilen gegenüber dem Instrument Posaune auf. Unser Ziel ist es also nicht die Klischees von Blasmusik oder Bigband zu bedienen, sondern filigrane Kammermusik mit Jazz und Improvisation zu verbinden und gleichzeitig fernab von Stilrichtungen flexibel das Publikum zu erreichen.

MILLENNIUM consists of the most exciting German trombonists of the latest generation. Nicolaj Wolf, Moritz Renner, Philipp Hayduk and Kai Baumgarten combine modern jazz with chamber music in an unusual and exciting line-up. This is how the quartet was selected for the recording project 2023 at LOFT.
With innovative playing techniques, they create a variety of timbres that captivate the audience. From Norwegian snowy landscapes to cosmic expanses, from blues to twelve-tone music – detailed arrangements of compositions reveal the inspiration of György Ligeti, Kenny Wheeler and Nils Wogram, creating an unmistakable sound.

"MILLENNIUM does away with prejudices about the trombone as an instrument. Our aim is therefore not to play the clichés of brass band or big band music, but to combine delicate chamber music with jazz and improvisation and at the same time to reach the audience in a flexible way, regardless of style.
