Mit seinem neuen Werk CANTO III taucht Jazz-Schlagzeuger und Komponist Matthieu Chazarenc weiter in die Welt ein, die er in seinen ersten beiden Alben Canto (2017) und Canto II (2021) zu erforschen begann. Das Ergebnis ist eine subtile Mischung kinematografischer Inspirationen, durchzogen von klassischen, lateinamerikanischen, aber auch Gascogne-Einflüssen. Als versierter Melodiker gelingt es Matthieu, Atmosphären zu vermitteln, die manchmal nostalgisch und melancholisch, manchmal lebhaft und wirbelnd, aber immer herrlich berauschend sind.

Der Wahl-Pariser Matthieu Chazarenc leitet Canto und hat seinen musikalischen Kompass nach Süden ausgerichtet. Tatsächlich schwingen im Herzen von Canto III Einflüsse aus Südspanien, dem Mittelmeerraum, Südamerika und nicht zuletzt dem Mutterland seiner südwestfranzösischen Herkunft (Nouvelle-Aquitaine) mit.

Auf seiner Reise Richtung Süden kann Mathieu auf seine vertrauenswürdigen Begleiter Christophe Wallemme am Kontrabass, Sylvain Gontard am Flügelhorn und Laurent Derache am Akkordeon zählen. Durch ihre gemeinsamen Auftritte seit 2017 haben sie im Rahmen zahlreicher Konzerte und Tourneen ein intimes Verhältnis aufgebaut und eine einzigartige musikalische Identität entwickelt, die bei jedem einzelnen Konzert spürbar ist. Jedes Mitglied des Quartetts bringt seine eigene Farbe und seinen eigenen Klang ins Spiel, um die von Matthieu komponierten Melodien besser zur Geltung zu bringen.

Elegant, überschwänglich und emotional offenbart dieses dritte Album von Canto eine breite Palette musikalischer Farben, sublimiert durch die enthusiastische Intensität des gemeinsamen Musizierens.

The result is a subtle blend of cinematographic inspirations, infused with classical, Latin American and Gascon influences. An accomplished melodist, Matthieu succeeds in conveying atmospheres that are sometimes nostalgic and melancholic, sometimes lively and swirling, but always wonderfully intoxicating.

Matthieu Chazarenc, a Parisian by choice, leads Canto and has set his musical compass towards the south. In fact, influences from southern Spain, the Mediterranean, South America and, last but not least, the motherland of his south-western French origins (Nouvelle-Aquitaine) resonate at the heart of Canto III .
On his journey south, Mathieu can count on his trustworthy accompanists Christophe Wallemme on double bass, Sylvain Gontard on flugelhorn and Laurent Derache on accordion. Performing together since 2017, they have built up an intimate relationship over the course of numerous concerts and tours, developing a unique musical identity that is palpable at every single concert. Each member of the quartet brings their own color and sound to the game to better showcase the melodies composed by Matthieu.
