This final concert marks the end of double bassist Jonas Gerigk's master's studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Prof. Dieter Manderscheid and Sebastian Gramss.
The main focus of his studies was intensive field-research of instrumental sound expansion of the double bass through playing techniques. Thus, over the years he cultivated special sounds in order to stretch the common double bass vocabulary in different directions and thus to meet a contemporary demand in the field of improvised music.
The fruitful research results were implemented improvisationally (solo project) and compositionally (Quartet Okoton).
Jonas Gerigk's "Sound Plantings" was released on IMPAKT records in February 2021.
