Die Baritonsaxophonistin und Komponistin Kira Linn stellt mit Her Wings ihr neues Large Ensemble vor. Gedichte von weiblichen Schriftstellerinnen wie Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell und Sappho stehen im Zentrum ihrer Kompositionen. Darin verbindet sie Jazz und Improvisation mit Singer-Songwriter-Elementen.
Die Texte, die zum Teil mehr als hundert Jahre alt sind, erhalten eine neue musikalische Gestalt und entfalten dadurch aktuelle Relevanz. Zwischen auskomponierten Passagen und improvisatorischer Freiheit entsteht ein vielschichtiges Klangbild, das die individuelle Ausdruckskraft der einzelnen Musiker:innen in den Vordergrund stellt.
Mit Her Wings erfüllt sich Kira Linn den lang gehegten Wunsch, ein eigenes Large Ensemble zu gründen – und gibt zugleich Autorinnen eine neue Bühne, deren Worte bis heute berühren und bewegen.

Baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn presents her new large ensemble, Her Wings. Poems by female writers such as Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell, and Sappho are at the heart of her compositions. In them, she combines jazz and improvisation with singer-songwriter elements.
The texts, some of which are more than a hundred years old, take on a new musical form and thus unfold their contemporary relevance. Between composed passages and improvisational freedom, a multi-layered soundscape emerges that highlights the individual expressiveness of each musician.
With Her Wings, Kira Linn fulfills her long-held desire to found her own large ensemble—and at the same time gives a new stage to authors whose words continue to touch and move us today.


The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8 pm CEST - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CEST.
Exceptions - eg on Sundays - are possible.
