Mit geschlossenen Augen die Verbindung zum Publikum finden – das gelingt nicht jeder Sängerin so bemerkenswert wie Juliana da Silva.
Alles eine Frage der Ausdrucksstärke, ist die Brasilianerin überzeugt. Und nicht nur sie: die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung bezeichnete ihre Auftritte als „musikalische Ganzkörpersinnlichkeit“.
„Es ist alles: Ausdruck, Gefühl, Verarbeitung von Emotionen“, sagt die Sängerin über ihre Musik, die mehr zeigt als blos die faszinierende Ausdrucksstärke der Bandleaderin: kein Song, der nicht die Soli des Instrumentaltrio in den Vordergrund stellt. Mal individuell und vereinzelt mit scheppernden Drums, wogendem Bass und virtuosem Klavier, dann wieder als Team, quirlig wippend oder sachte verebbend – das Gemeinschaftsgefühl gewinnt.
Dass ihre Songs immer auf Portugiesisch sind, vermindert nicht ihre Magie: „Die Menschen verstehen kein Wort von dem, was ich singe, aber sie verstehen trotzdem, was der Song ihnen sagen will“, sagt da Silva über ihre Musik.
Nach ihren ersten gemeinsamen CD Vai samba meu spielt die Band beim Konzert im LOFT fast ausschließlich eigene Kompositionen u.a. von dem Saxofonist Tony Lakatos, der ein häufiger Gast ist.
Auch im LOFT kommt er dazu – ein Spieler, der keine große Vorstellung benötigt, ein Musiker mit dem voluminösen und melodischen Sound, der sich in sämtliche Musikstylen elegant und kraftvoll bewegt.

Finding the connection to the audience with closed eyes - not every singer succeeds as remarkably as Juliana da Silva.
It's all a question of expressiveness, the Brazilian is convinced. And not only she: the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described her performances as "musical whole-body sensuality".
"It's everything: expression, feeling, processing of emotions", says the singer about her music, which shows more than just the fascinating expressiveness of the band leader: no song that doesn't put the solos of the instrumental trio in the foreground. Sometimes individually and sporadically with clattering drums, surging bass and virtuoso piano, then again as a team, lively bobbing or gently ebbing - the sense of community wins.
The fact that their songs are always in Portuguese does not diminish their magic: "People don't understand a word of what I'm singing, but they still understand what the song is trying to tell them," says da Silva about her music.
After their first joint CD Vai samba meu, the band plays almost exclusively their own compositions at the concert in the LOFT, among others by saxophonist Tony Lakatos, who is a frequent guest.
He also joins them at the LOFT - a player who needs no great introduction, a musician with a voluminous and melodic sound who moves elegantly and powerfully in all musical styles.
