Das Quartett des Kölner Posaunisten und Komponisten Janning Trumann gehört längst zu den unverrückbaren Größen des deutschen Jazz-Lebens. Der umtriebige Bandleader ist vor allem für die einzigartige Eleganz und Tiefgründigkeit seines Tons bekannt, die von Pianist und Keyboarder Lucas Leidinger, Bassist Florian Herzog und Drummer Tobias Sauerborn kongenial umspielt, unterlegt und gefeaturet werden.

Am 8. Januar 2024 präsentieren die vier Musiker das neue Album Echo, welches Sie mit dem New Yorker Gitarristen Brandon Seabrook als Gast im November 2022 live im LOFT aufgenommen haben.
Es ist das bereits dritte Album des Quartetts, und setzt klanglich die Weiterentwicklung fort. Die Interaktion wird noch unvorhersehbarer, der Sound urbaner, das Gesamterscheinungsbild komplexer und für Spieler wie Hörer gleichermaßen herausfordernder, vielleicht sogar provokanter. Sie erspielen sich ein kreativ ästhetisches Beziehungsgeflecht, das das Tradierte und Vertraute nicht komplett negiert, aber dem Neuen darüber noch viel mehr Raum gibt.

The quartet of Cologne-based trombonist and composer Janning Trumann has long been one of the unchanging greats of German jazz life. The bustling band leader is known above all for the unique elegance and profundity of his sound, which is congenially played around, underpinned and featured by pianist and keyboardist Lucas Leidinger, bassist Florian Herzog and drummer Tobias Sauerborn.

On January 8th 2024, the four musicians will present the new album Echo, which they recorded live at the LOFT with New York guitarist Brandon Seabrook as a guest in November 2022.
It is the quartet’s third album, and continues their sonic development. The interaction is even more unpredictable, the sound more urban, the overall appearance more complex and more challenging, perhaps even provocative, for players and listeners alike. They play out a creative, aesthetic network of relationships that does not completely negate the traditional and familiar, but gives the new much more room.
