Instant Songs beschreibt wohl am besten die Musik welche Sebastiano Tramontana und Frank Gratkowski in ihrem Duo spontan entstehen lassen. Ihre Improvisationen wirken oft wie kleine komponierte Lieder und zeichnen sich durch eine klare Struktur aus. Einige haben wunderschöne Melodien andere beinhalten selbst die Stimmen der Spieler oder benutzen erweiterte Spieltechniken wie Mehrklänge oder Geräuschhaftes. Einige sind sehr romantisch andere wiederum sehr abstrakt. Aber letztendlich geht es immer um den musikalischen Dialog mit einer erzählerischen Qualität, um spontane Lieder. Was Tramontana und Gratkowski an ihrem Duo besonders mögen ist, dass die Musik sich sehr von ihren weiteren Projekten unterscheidet.

Als ganz besonderen Gast haben sie heute im LOFT den wunderbaren Steve Beresford, eine Koryphäe der britischen Improvisationsszene, dabei. Er war von Frank und Sebi so begeistert, dass er die Liner Notes ihrer CD schrieb. Es ist ein lang ersehnter Wunsch des Duos gemeinsam mit Steve Beresford zu spielen.

Instant Songs probably best describes the music that Sebastiano Tramontana and Frank Gratkowski spontaneously create in their duo. Their improvisations often seem like small composed songs and are characterized by a clear structure. Some have beautiful melodies, others contain the voices of the players themselves or use extended playing techniques such as multiphonics or noise. Some are very romantic, others very abstract. But ultimately it is always about musical dialog with a narrative quality, about spontaneous songs. What Tramontana and Gratkowski particularly like about their duo is that the music is very different from their other projects.

As a very special guest, they have the wonderful Steve Beresford, a luminary of the British improv scene, with them at the LOFT. He was so enthusiastic about Frank and Sebi that he wrote the liner notes for their CD. It is a long-awaited wish of the duo to play together with Steve Beresford.
