….gründete 1974 seine erste eigene Formation, das GEORG GRAEWE QUINTETT, und konnte zwei Jahre später sein Schallplattendebut bei der Berliner Free Music Production geben. In der Folge leitete er eine Reihe internationaler Ensembles – vom Trio bis zum Kammerorchester. Sein Werkkatalog umfasst Kammermusik, Orchesterstücke, als auch Arbeiten für Film und Fernsehen, Musik zu Theateraufführungen, Hörspielproduktionen und Videoinstallationen, sowie bis dato drei Kammeropern. Graewes Musik ist gleichermassen der europäischen Moderne als auch den Entwicklungen der Jazzavantgarde verpflichtet und auf bislang über 50 Tonträgern dokumentiert. Aktuell arbeitet er mit seinem SONIC FICTION ORCHESTRA sowie als Solist und in diversen Duos und Trios.
Im September 2024 wurde Georg Graewes Tripple-Album "Nothing Personal" für den Jahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert.

Georg Graewe
born 1956 in Bochum | composer and pianist

…. founded his first own formation, the GEORG GRAEWE QUINTETT, in 1974 and made his recording debut two years later with Berlin’s Free Music Production. He went on to lead a number of international ensembles – from trio to chamber orchestra. His catalog of works includes chamber music, orchestral pieces, as well as works for film and television, music for theater performances, radio play productions and video installations, as well as three chamber operas to date. Graewe’s music is equally committed to European modernism and the developments of the jazz avant-garde and has been documented on over 50 recordings to date. He currently works with his SONIC FICTION ORCHESTRA as well as a soloist and in various duos and trios.
In September 2024, Georg Graewe's triple album “Nothing Personal” was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award.
