Virtuose Meisterleistungen der Sologeige fordert Tschaikowski in seinem einzigen Violinkonzert, in dem tiefste Sehnsucht und aufkeimende Lebensfreude kontrastreich zum Ausdruck kommen. Diese verarbeite der mehrfach ausgezeichnete russische Komponist und Pianist André Parfenov zu einem »Aachener Walzer«, der die Orte, die Tschaikoswki – laut seinen Tagebuchaufzeichnungen – in Aachen »Freude und seelischen Frieden« brachten, lebendig werden lässt.
