Carnival in Rottweil is famous for it's traditional and beautiful costumes and handmade wooden masks. Fools-figures have names like 'Biss' or 'Gschell'. But not everybody can be a fool. Under no circumstances are women allowed to dress up as the divine little horses. The filmmakers Sigrun Köhler and Wiltrud Baier (Böller und Brot) spent more than three years filming in Rottweil. With their humorous and affectionate view, they take the audience into an unknown world: a great archaic celebration of life and death in the middle of highly industrialized Germany.
