Der italienische Bass Marco Simonelli studierte Gesang am Conservatorio di Bologna. Der italienische Bass Marco Simonelli studierte Gesang am Conservatorio di Bologna. Er spezialisierte sich an der Accademia di Santa Cecilia bei Renata Scotto und an der Accademia Chigiana bei Raina Kabaivanska. Seine Ausbildung führt er bei Robert Gambill weiter. Als Solist hat er für verschiedene Opernhäuser sowie Festivals gesungen. Dazu gehören u.a. Accademia Naz. di S. Cecilia in Rom, Festival Pucciniano in Torre del Lago, Paphos Aphrodite Festival in Zypern, Festival Rossini in Wildbad. Zudem hat er bei den Labels Bongiovanni und Naxos Aufnahmen gemacht. 2017 bis 2023 war er Mitglied des Opernchores am Theater für Niedersachsen in Hildesheim. 2019 bis 2020 sang er im Chor des Teatro Comunale in Bologna, mit diesem Chor hatte er 2019 zudem die Möglichkeit, beim Verdi-Festival in Parma zu singen. Seit August 2023 singt er nun im Opernchor des Theater Bremen. In 2025 gehörte er dem Festspielchor der Bayreuther Festspiele an. Parallel zu seiner musikalischen Ausbildung erwarb er einen Abschluss und ein Doktorat als Bauingenieur.
