Er absolvierte sein Studium am Seoul National University College of Music, wo er seinen Unterricht u. a. bei den Professor*innen Mihae Park und Daebum Lee erhielt. Der Bariton Geon Kim wurde in Seoul, Südkorea, geboren. Er absolvierte sein Studium am Seoul National University College of Music, wo er seinen Unterricht u. a. bei den Professor*innen Mihae Park und Daebum Lee erhielt. Während seines Studiums übernahm er dort u. a. Partien wie Masetto in Mozarts DON GIOVANNI, Guglielmo in COSÌ FAN TUTTE und Conte Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO sowie Gianni Schicchi und Spinelloccio in Puccinis GIANNI SCHICCHI.
In der Saison 2023/24 war er Mitglied am Korea National Opera Studio und wurde darüber hinaus mit einem Stipendium der Seah Woonhyung Lee Foundation (Korea) gefördert. Er besuchte Meisterkursen renommierter Persönlichkeiten wie Kwangchul Youn, Hans Choi, Jonathan Papp und Carlo Rizzi. Im Jahr 2024 gewann er den Georg Solti Akademie-Wettbewerb in Seoul, wodurch er 2025 am regulären Programm beteiligen wird. Zusätzlich nahm er 2024 an mehreren Meisterklassen der Georg Solti Akademie teil. Geon Kim hat sich auch in verschiedenen weiteren Wettbewerben erfolgreich behauptet. Im Jahr 2020 gewann er den KBS Gesangwettbewerb und den koreanischen Klassikmusik-Wettbewerb. Zudem erhielt er 2020 das Stipendium der Hyundai Foundation, durch die er zu Konzerten mit dem Hankyung Philharmonic Orchester im Seoul Arts Center und mit dem KBS Philharmonic Orchester in der KBS Halle eingeladen wurde.
In der Saison 2024/25 gibt er sein Debüt an der Deutschen Oper Berlin, an der er u. a. als Marcello in LA BOHÈME, Förster in DAS SCHLAUE FÜCHSLEIN, Monterone in RIGOLETTO und Moralès in CARMEN zu erleben sein wird. Er bereichert das Ensemble hier als Stipendiat im Austauschprogramm mit der Korean National Opera.
