Der lyrische Tenor Enea Scala wurde in Ragusa (Sizilien) geboren. Er studierte in Bologna und debütierte 2006 am dortigen Teatro Comunale in Mancinellis Oper PAOLO E FRANCESCA als Matto. Im selben Jahr gewann er den Ersten Preis der Zucchelli-Stiftung. In der Folge wurde er als Arbace in Mozarts IDOMENEO und für die großen Tenorpartien in den Opern von Rossini engagiert (u.a. ITALIANA IN ALGERI, GUILLAUME TELL, DER BARBIER VON SEVILLA, IL VIAGGIO A REIMS).
Am Downpatrick Festival sang er die anspruchsvolle Rolle des Tempo in Händels IL TRIONFO DEL TEMPO E DEL DISINGANNO. Im Sommer 2010 trat er im Rahmen des Rossini-Festival in Pesaro als Radoski in SIGISMONDO auf und war anschließend in einem von der Presse enthusiastisch gefeierten Debüt am Teatro Sociale in Como sowie an den Opernhäusern von Pavia, Brescia und Cremona als Elvino in Bellinis LA SONNAMBULA zu erleben. Es folgten Mambre / MOSE IN EGITTO wiederum beim Rossini-Festival in Pesaro, Ernesto / DON PASQUALE in Glyndebourne, Prunier / LA RONDINE in Messina, Corasmino / ZAIRA beim Festival della Valle d'Itria, verschiedenste Partien im Doppelabend L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE / L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES in Palermo, Fritz Kobus / L’AMICO FRITZ in Cagliari, Belfiore / LA FINTA GIARDINIERA in Lille, Dijon und Glyndebourne sowie jüngst Egeo / MEDEA IN CORINTO beim Festival della Valle d'Itria, Camille de Rosillon / DIE LUSTIGE WITWE in Cagliari oder Edgardo / LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR in Muscat. Die Partie des Nemorino / EIN LIEBESTRANK sang er bisher u. a. in Pavia, Como, Cremona oder Brescia.
Er arbeitete dabei mit renommierten Dirigenten wie Michele Mariotti, Roberto Abbado, Enrique Mazzola, Carlo Rizzi, Yves Abel, Andrea Battistoni, Emmanuelle Haïm, Gianandrea Noseda, Dan Ettinger, Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi oder Jesús López Cobos.
