Alessandro Melazzini is a documentary filmmaker and entrepreneur born in Sondrio in 1974.
He lives between Munich and Bormio, holds a degree in political economy from Bocconi University in Milan, and a degree in philosophy from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg.
After working as a journalist, consultant, and freelance translator, he self-produced his first documentary film, dedicated to Italians in Bavaria, and in 2010 founded the documentary production company Alpenway Media GmbH in Munich.
As a director and/or producer of documentaries, he collaborates with major Italian and German broadcasters, including RAI, ARD, ZDF, and ARTE, for which his company co-produces, sometimes involving European funds and both German and Italian Film Commissions.
His productions are characterized by a remarkable eclecticism, ranging from cultural and religious topics to travel documentaries, aiming to introduce an international audience to the allure of an unusual Italy. Documentaries produced by Alpenway regularly participate in international festivals and are broadcast by European cultural channels.
For his entrepreneurial commitment as a migrant citizen, the city of Munich awarded him the PhönixPreis, making him the first Italian to receive it. In 2020, he was featured in the Rapporto Italiani nel Mondo by the Migrantes Foundation.
The German Embassy in Italy presents him as a testimonial.
He has been featured in Corriere della Sera and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
