Die deutsch-polnische Mezzosopranistin Barbara Skora studierte Gesang an der Fryderyk-Chopin-Musikuniversität Warschau und an der Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. Während des Studiums hat sie Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Försterin in Das schlaue Füchslein sowie Pierrot in einer Inszenierung nach Schönbergs Pierrot Lunaire gesungen. Engagements führten Skora u. a. ans Staatstheater Braunschweig und zum Mozart Festival Würzburg. Zu ihrem Repertoire gehören Partien wie Schwester Mathilde in Poulencs Dialogues des Carmélites, Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel und Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro. Skora gewann Preise bei internationalen Wettbewerben in Ostrava (Tschechien), Krakau, Breslau, Gleiwitz (Polen) und Massa (Italien) sowie den Sonderpreis beim 78. Concours de Genève und war Finalistin beim Bogdan Paprocki Wettbewerb 2023.
In der aktuellen Spielzeit gibt Skora ihr Hausdebüt an der Staatsoper Hannover als Dritte Adelige Waise in Der Rosenkavalier und ist als Flora in La Traviata an der Staatsoper Unter den Linden zu erleben.
