Birgit Spörl wurde 1989 in Leipzig geboren und studierte Musik- und Theaterwissenschaften an der dortigen Universität. Erste studienbegleitende berufliche Engagements bekam sie am Bacharchiv Leipzig, dem Institut für Musikwissenschaft der Universität Leipzig sowie am Museum für Musikinstrumente der Universität Leipzig. 2013 nahm sie eine Stelle als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft an der Robert-Schumann-Forschungsstelle in Düsseldorf an, wo sie an der Neuen Robert-Schumann-Gesamtausgabe mitwirkte und eine Dissertation zur Edition Robert Schumanns mehrstimmiger Lieder erarbeitete. Nach einigen Jahren fast ausschließlich wissenschaftlicher Tätigkeit ging sie ab der Spielzeit 2018/19 als Konzertdramaturgin und Musikpädagogin ans Theater Altenburg Gera. Im Februar 2023 wechselte sie auf die Stelle der Konzertdramaturgin an die Staatsoper Hannover.
