Die Bühnen- und Kostümbildnerin Rhea Eckstein studierte Architektur an der Leibniz Universität Hannover und an der University oft the West of England, Bristol. In den Spielzeiten 2019/20 bis 2021/22 assistierte sie an der Staatsoper Hannover u. a. den Bühnenbildner:innen Etienne Pluss, Susanne Gschwender, Thilo Ullrich, Sarah-Katharina Karl, Valentin Köhler, sowie dem Videokünstler Tal Rosner. Außerdem stattete sie das Ballhoffest 2021 sowie die interaktive und inklusive Klanginstallation sound:waves aus. Engagements führten sie darüber hinaus u. a. an die Komische Oper Berlin, das Teatro di San Carlo Napoli, das Opernhaus Zürich, die Oper Frankfurt, die Staatsoper Stuttgart und die Bayerische Staatsoper. Eckstein arbeitet als freischaffende Bühnen- und Kostümbildnerin. Sie gestaltet Bühne und Kostüme für Riesenprobleme und Nils Karlsson Däumling am Jungen Staatstheater Karlsruhe, sowie die Bühne für Lear am National Theatre Prague. An der Staatsoper Hannover erstellt sie das Bühnenbild für Das Kind der Seehundfrau und wirkt bei The Greek Passion mit.
