In the intoxication of deep trance, they experience liberation from the limitations of the ego and becoming one with the divine as universal love. Shağaf - the Arabic word for love - has explosive power: in the context of Sufism, it is not only an intense dimension of religious experience, but also a resistant element against dogmatism and orthodoxy.
