In this concert, the boundaries of the centuries dissolve like the hidden shapes of a trick picture. Between history and myth, an Ariadne’s thread unfurls, winding its way from the dawn of time into our own era. At the heart of the performance lies the celebrated "Lamento d’Arianna", the crowning jewel of Claudio Monteverdi’s lost opera. In a meticulously reconstructed version, the ensemble NeoBarock and singer Margot Oitzinger breathe new life into this haunting lament—a song that, according to contemporary accounts, moved audiences to tears as far back as four hundred years ago. The ancient Roman city walls of the Santa Clara Keller provide the perfect backdrop for these mythological soundscapes. Here, antiquity and the present mirror one another: the old appears reborn, while the new echoes with the whispers of a distant past.
