Hannes Halldórsson is a film director and a former professional football player. Originally from Reykjavik, for 15 years Hannes lived a double life as a filmmaker and professional footballer, playing in Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Azerbaijan.
He was a member of the Icelandic national team where he was capped 77 times and appeared at UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
In 2021, he directed, co-wrote, and co-edited his first feature film LEYNILÖGGA (COP SECRET). The film has traveled to festivals worldwide and had its world premiere at Locarno film festival and was nominated for the Golden Leopard. At Lubeck Film Festival he was awarded the Best First Feature Award.
